The consolidation of our European University Alliance highlighted in a CIVIS conference at UAM The consolidation of our European University Alliance highlighted in a CIVIS conference at UAM ================================================================================================ CIVIS Highlights 10 Φεβρουαρίου 2025 The improvement of the educational offer, mobility and research are only a few of the CIVIS achievements presented to UAM's community. The conference auditorium had the opportunity to learn in detail about the work carried out by CIVIS, Europe's Civic University Alliance, of which the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM) is a member. ![](/storage/files/highlight-february-2025.jpg) ©UAM CIVIS 2, the second phase of the project co-funded by the European Union, is committed to consolidating the joint educational offer in a more integrated and diverse way and to strengthening the objectives of mobility and international cooperation, with a firm commitment to educational innovation and inclusion. One of the most important milestones took place in 2024, when it was [constituted as a legal entity through the CIVIS Association](https://civis.eu/en/get-informed/news/civis-member-universities-sign-alliance-agreement-salzburg) - a decisive moment towards the consolidation of CIVIS’ vision of integrated and collaborative higher education. > *The main hallmark of CIVIS is the promotion of civic universities, in which research and education are oriented towards serving society, identifying and solving problems from a practical and committed perspective that fosters values that enable future generations to face challenges with responsibility”,* highlighted rector Amaya Mendikoetxea in her speech. Among the projects coordinated by UAM is also [SMARTT](https://civis.eu/el/discover-civis-alliance/our-work/civis-alliance-projects/recent-projects/smartt), one of the six pilot projects funded by the European Commission to facilitate the creation of the European Degree Label, aiming for the creation of joint degrees within alliances. In this framework, the UAM leads the EUROSUD-South European Studies Master, that will be redesigned in the context of CIVIS. This CIVIS UAM Conference also addressed the scope of the [Hubs](https://civis.eu/el/discover-civis-alliance/our-work/our-hubs) and their most important actions; the Open Labs, which were presented by their coordinator at UAM and finally, Research in CIVIS, which was discussed by UAM's Vice-Rector for Research.
